The basics

What Conriso is, where it runs, and the handful of terms you will see around the app.

Where does the name Conriso come from?
Con, from conversation. Riso, Italian for both rice and laughter. Rice feeds more than half the planet, which felt right for a table we want to be just as universal: anyone, anywhere, talking about something that matters over food they enjoy.
What is Conriso?
Conriso brings small groups together over a shared meal and a topic worth talking about. Someone publishes a table with a meal, a topic, a venue and a time, a few people join, and you all meet in real life. Groups are 2 to 6 people, so everyone stays in one conversation.
Where is Conriso available?
We are starting in Amsterdam. Tell us where you are and we will let you know the moment we open there.
Do I have to be an extrovert?
No. A table of two to six around one topic is closer to a good dinner with friends of friends than a networking event. The topic does most of the work, which is exactly what makes it easier if you are not the person who fills silences.
What kinds of meals are there?
Breakfast, lunch, coffee, tea, dinner and drinks. A table can be any part of the day, so it does not have to be a whole evening.
What language will the table be in?
English, unless the host says otherwise on the table itself.
Do I need to be 18?
Yes, Conriso is for adults only.
What is the difference between a host-led table and a Conriso curated table?
Who built it. A host-led table is published by a real person who picked the topic, the venue and the time, and who decides who joins. They are at the table with you and they get the conversation started. A curated table, marked with a sparkle, is published by us: we pick the topic and the venue, there is no individual host, and the group steers the conversation together. Everything else is identical, including the seat fee, the cancellation rules and the group size.
What is Conriso Select?
Conriso Select is our name for the venues we partner with. In most cases they give Conriso guests an exclusive perk, like a welcome drink, and when a table is at one you will see a Select badge and the perk on the table itself. It does not mean every curated table is at a Select venue. We curate tables at other places too, and pick whichever venue suits the topic.
Is hosting the only way to get a free join credit?
Mostly, yes. Every host earns one when a table they hosted actually happens with at least one confirmed joiner. Now and then there are other ways, like a limited number of credits when we launch in a new city.

For joiners

Joining a table

Finding a table, what a seat costs, who you will be sitting with, and getting your money back if plans change.

How do I join a table?
Browse Discover, open a table you like, and request a spot. You pay the seat fee at that point. If the host has approval turned on, they read your profile to see whether you are a fit for the table, then confirm or decline. If not, your spot is confirmed right away.
What does it cost?
A €5 seat fee per table. That's the platform fee, not the food. You pay for your own food and drinks at the venue, exactly as you would on any other night out.
Why is there a fee at all?
It keeps the platform running, and it makes people show up. A free RSVP is easy to forget. €5 is small enough not to matter and real enough to mean you meant it.
How do I pay?
Card, iDEAL, Apple Pay or Google Pay, through Stripe. We never see or store your card details.
Do free join credits expire?
No. If you are holding one it is applied automatically the next time you join, before any card payment.
What if my request is declined?
You get your €5 back automatically. Same if the host never gets round to deciding, or if they cancel the table.
Can I cancel?
Yes. Cancel more than 24 hours before the table starts and you get a full refund. After that the seat fee is not refunded, because by then the host has counted on you and it is often too late for someone else to take the spot.
When is a refund automatic?
When the host declines you, when the host cancels the table, when the host never decides before the table starts, when you end up the only joiner on a Conriso curated table, and when you cancel more than 24 hours before the start. Refunds go back to the card you paid with. If you used a credit, you get the credit back instead.
How long does a refund take?
It is issued immediately from our side. Your bank usually takes a few days to show it.
How late can I join a table?
Joining closes 2 hours before the table starts. That is the Conriso default, and a host can close their own table earlier whenever they want to.
Can I bring a friend?
Not on the same spot. Your friend can request the table separately if there is room, and it is up to the host whether to approve both.
Who will be at the table? Can I see beforehand?
Yes, as it fills. Once your spot is confirmed and one other person has joined, you see first names and photos, a sense of the group (the gender mix, how people describe themselves, languages spoken and cities), and any topics, interests or cuisines you share with at least one other person there. You never see another joiner's full profile.
Why can't I see other joiners' full profiles?
Because some of the surprise is the point. Reading five full profiles beforehand turns a dinner into a shortlist: you spend an evening browsing and arrive with opinions already formed about people you have not met. A first name, a photo and what the group has in common is enough to feel the shape of the table without pre-judging anyone at it. Hosts are the exception. You can read a host's full profile, because you are choosing their table.
Can I message the host?
Once your spot is confirmed, yes, for anything you need to sort out beforehand. Messages go through Conriso, so your email address and phone number stay private. While a request is still pending there is no messaging either way.
What if I have a dietary restriction?
Every table lists its venue upfront, so you can check the menu before you join.
What if I am running late?
Message the host so they know. Try not to make it a habit, since a table of five waiting for one person is the one thing that reliably sours the start.
What if I am the only person who joined a curated table?
This can only happen on a curated table, since a host-led table already has the host and you. Free cancellation normally ends 24 hours before the start. If you are still the only confirmed joiner at that point, we tell you, and that deadline stops applying to you: wait and see if someone else joins, and you can still cancel for a full refund at any time. If nobody joins by 2 hours before, we cancel it and refund you automatically. A table that never formed is not your problem to pay for.

For hosts

Hosting a table

Free to publish and yours to shape, plus what you take on once people have joined.

What does a host actually do?
Pick the meal, the topic, the venue and the time, decide how many seats to open, and decide who joins. A table is at most 6 people including you, so you can open up to 5 seats. On the day, show up and get the conversation started. You are not performing. You are the person who set the table.
Does hosting cost anything?
No. Publishing a table is free, and you pay for your own food and drinks like everyone else.
What do I get out of it?
A meal with people who chose your topic, and a free join credit once your table has happened with at least one confirmed joiner. That credit covers your seat fee next time you join someone else's table.
Do I need experience?
No. Most first-time hosts have never organised anything, and a small table around a topic they picked themselves is about the lowest-stakes way to try it.
How do I choose a topic?
Pick something you actually want to talk about with people who are not your usual friends. The best topics are specific enough to attract the right people and open enough that everyone at the table has something to say. If nothing comes to mind, we give you plenty to choose from, ranging from casual chat to deep talk.
Do I have to approve every request?
Your choice. Turn approval on and you review each person's profile to see whether they are a fit for your table. Turn it off and spots are confirmed instantly. Approval is on by default.
Do I book the venue?
Yes, if the venue needs a reservation. You know the place and the group size, so it is easiest from your side. Once your joiners are confirmed you can message them all at once with the reservation details.
Can I edit my table after publishing?
Until someone has a confirmed spot, yes. After that, no. People joined the table you published, and moving the date or the venue underneath them is not fair. If plans genuinely change, cancel the table, or message your joiners and sort it out with them directly.
Can I cancel a table?
Yes. More than 24 hours before the start it is free, and everyone who joined is refunded automatically. Cancel later than that with people already confirmed and it counts as a late cancellation: the first one costs you part of your free join credits, and a second one wipes the rest and temporarily freezes your account.
When does joining close on my table?
2 hours before the start, automatically. That is the default on every Conriso table. You can close yours earlier, and reopen it again if you change your mind.
Can I host a women-only table?
Yes, if you identify as a woman. That table is then only open to women joiners.
What if nobody joins?
Nothing happens and nothing is lost. The table simply passes.

Hosts

Launch offer for hosts

How does the launch offer for hosts work?

Be the person who creates the opportunity for connection.

The first 5 hosts to publish an eligible table get up to €20 back on their meals.

Choose a topic, create your table, and bring people together.

How it works

  1. 1

    Create your table

Choose a topic and publish your table on Conriso.

We'll review it and email you to confirm your place as soon as we can.

  2. 2

    Bring people together

At least 3 people must reserve through Conriso, so there are at least 4 of you around the table.

Your table must take place by 31 October 2026 (inclusive).

  3. 3

    Show us how it went

After your table, send everything to hello@conriso.com:

    • At least 1 photo of the group during the table
    • A video of the group during the table would be great too
    • Your meal receipt
    • Whether everyone is happy for Conriso to use them on social media (Instagram, for example). No consent, no sharing.
  4. 4

    We'll take it from here

We'll reimburse your meal using your preferred payment method, up to your remaining €20.

Example. Your meal costs €14, so you get €14 back. The remaining €6 stays available for another table.

How the first five are counted

The incentive is host-based, not table-based. Your place is the publish time of your earliest table that is still active.

Publish today for a table next month? You're counted from today. Move your table to a later date? Your original publication time still counts.

We value the action. The date is just logistics.

Once we confirm you're one of the first five, your place is held. Nobody who publishes after you can take it. It only moves if you cancel.

What kind of table qualifies

Breakfast, coffee, lunch, tea, drinks, dinner. Any table counts, as long as it meets the requirements above.

FAQ

What if someone doesn't show up?
Let's hope it doesn't happen, but a no-show is not your fault. You still qualify.
What if I cancel my table?
Your place passes to the next host in line. Publishing puts you in the running, but hosting is what the incentive is for.
What if my table doesn't fill?
Different from cancelling. It stays active, your place is untouched, and you can host another table by 31 October 2026.
What if I cancel and publish again?
You rejoin at your new publish time, behind anyone who published while you were away.
What if I edit my table?
Editing doesn't affect your place. You're counted from when you first published.
What if my meal costs more than €20?
You receive €20, which is the maximum per host.
And what about the free join credit?
The €20 is on top of your free join credit. If you're one of the first hosts, you receive both.
Are there other requirements?
Yes. Your table and your hosting must be in line with Conriso's Terms of Service, and you must not have a member report that results in a violation.

Hosts and joiners

Cancellations and no-shows

One set of rules, the same whichever side of the table you are on. Repeated from the sections above on purpose, because this is what people look up in a hurry.

When can I cancel for free?
Up to 24 hours before the table starts. That window is the same for everyone, hosts and joiners alike. Cancel inside it and there is no penalty and no money lost. Cancel after it and there are consequences: for a host whose table already has confirmed joiners, and for a joiner whose spot was confirmed. A request that is still pending can be withdrawn at any time for free.
What happens if I cancel late?
The first time, you lose the seat fee and part of your free join credits. The second time, you lose the rest of them and your account is temporarily frozen, which means you cannot host or join until it lifts. After that the count resets.
What happens if I just do not show up?
Other people at the table can report a no-show in the feedback form afterwards. It takes more than one person to report you, so a single bad-tempered review cannot freeze anyone. A confirmed no-show freezes the account immediately and wipes every free join credit you are holding, without the first-time leniency that late cancellations get.
What happens to my upcoming tables if my account is frozen?
They are all cancelled, both the ones you were hosting and the ones you had joined, and everyone affected is refunded in full. We would rather free those seats up early than leave people waiting on someone who is already unreliable.

Everyone

Safety and privacy

Where tables happen, who can see what, what leaves the platform when a table is shared, and how to flag something wrong.

Where do tables take place?
Must be at a public venue that is searchable on Google Maps. The restriction is there for safety.
Can people who have not signed up see the tables?
No. Discover and everything on it is visible only to signed-up members, which is another layer of safety and privacy.
How does sharing a table work?
There are share buttons across the app, so anyone can send a table to WhatsApp, Instagram or anywhere else. What goes out is deliberately thin: the topic, the date and the time. The host and the venue are never included, and whoever opens the link has to sign in to see the rest.
Who can see my profile?
A host sees the full profile of anyone requesting their table, and you can see a host's full profile before you request a seat. Fellow joiners see each other as a first name and a photo, nothing more. Nobody outside the table sees anything.
Is my contact information visible?
No. Messaging runs through Conriso, so your email address and phone number stay hidden unless you deliberately swap them afterwards.
Are people verified?
Everyone signs up with a confirmed email address and completes a real profile before they can join or host anything. We will keep strengthening this, for example with phone number or ID verification, as part of our commitment to keeping Conriso safe for everyone.
Can I report something I am not comfortable with?
Yes, and you do not have to be part of a table to do it. Anyone can report a concern about any published table, joined or not, and after a table both hosts and joiners can report misbehaviour. We look at every report and act on it, to keep Conriso a community where members treat each other well.

Everyone

After the table

One short form does all of this: how the table went, how the people were, and who you would like to stay in touch with.

What happens after the table?
Everyone who was there gets one short form, and it covers everything in one go. First, how the table went overall: a rating, and a few words if you have any. Then two quick questions about each person you sat with, whether they turned up and whether you would recommend them. On the same form you can tick anyone you would like to stay in touch with, and if they tick you too you both get each other's email. It takes about a minute. Hosts and joiners answer the same questions, and your answers about a person are private, never shown to them.
Is my feedback about a person shared with them?
No. Individual feedback is never shown to the person it is about. Feedback about the table overall can be shown publicly, the way reviews work elsewhere.
What happens if I say I would not recommend someone?
Nothing they will ever see. If that person is already confirmed on a table you are about to join, we tell you before you join, so the decision is yours. The warning says only that someone is there, never who, and they are never told anything about it. That is why answering honestly is worth the thirty seconds.
How do I swap contacts with people I'd like to keep in touch with?
The same form lets you opt into swapping emails with specific people. If they opt in too, you both get each other's email.
